4 Month Academic Program

When learning a language for academic or professional purposes, we need to acquire skills in all four modules of the language such as speaking, listening, reading and writing.

The four language skills are inter-related in two ways:
The direction of communication (input or output).
The method of communication (spoken or written)

The inputs skills (listening and reading) are commonly referred to as “receptive skills” while the output skills (writing and speaking) are commonly referred to as “receptive skills” while the output skills (writing and speaking) are commonly referred to as “productive skill”.

Concerning communication, these skills are categorized differently. Listening and speaking are considered as “Oral” and Writing and Reading as “written skills”. Each skill then has its own micro skills.
